Reserving Actuary

Our client is looking to hire Reserving Actuary. Reporting to the Head of Reserving, this role will play a key part in delivering actuarial expertise to the business, providing independent challenge, analysis and review of underwriting data and statistics to support reserving activities.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the quarterly reserving process, ensuring that reserving analysis is completed to a high standard and supported by rigorous review of underwriting data and experience. Responsibilities will include the calculation of technical provisions, reserving assumption setting, liaising with claims teams on reserve adequacy, monitoring and reporting on emerging experience, and providing expert review of reserving analyses across multiple business areas. The role will also support quarterly reserve reviews, including both year of account and annual accounting results, while contributing to the ongoing enhancement of reserving models, methodologies and processes.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a range of stakeholders across the business and to contribute to the continued development of actuarial capabilities. The successful individual will actively support continuous improvement initiatives and help drive innovation within the reserving function.

Candidates and be nearly qualified or newly qualified actuaries with significant experience in Lloyd's market reserving. You will be a proactive and innovative thinker who is comfortable challenging established approaches and identifying opportunities for improvement. A combination of strong technical expertise, commercial awareness and the ability to build credible relationships across the business will be essential. The role requires someone who can balance strategic thinking with a pragmatic approach to delivery and who is confident working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
