An established London Market insurer is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join its actuarial function. This role will support reserving analysis, process improvement and the production of actuarial estimates in line with the organisation's reserving policy.
You will undertake reserving studies for allocated business segments, including calculating best-estimate reserves, interpreting data, selecting assumptions and determining currency allocations. Working closely with actuarial colleagues and other business functions, you will help deliver robust quarterly reserve reviews and communicate key findings, recommendations, uncertainties and limitations to senior stakeholders and governance committees.
A significant part of the position involves improving reserving processes and models. You will identify opportunities to generate better insights and support the design, testing, implementation and documentation of practical, proportionate solutions. You will also contribute to wider actuarial initiatives involving reserving, insurance risk parameterisation and strategic change.
The successful candidate will have at least three years' reserving experience within an actuarial team and a sound understanding of London Market reserving techniques and challenges. You should have commenced the actuarial examinations and be committed to completing the qualification, alongside holding a strong numerate degree or equivalent.
Advanced Excel skills are essential. Experience with SQL, Power Query, Python, Power BI, VS Code or VBA in an insurance environment is highly desirable, while familiarity with specialist reserving platforms would be beneficial. Experience of reserving process design, improvement or transformation, together with an interest in applying AI to actuarial work, would also be advantageous.
You will be analytical, curious and commercially minded, with the confidence to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across teams. Strong organisation, stakeholder management and written and verbal communication skills are important, as is the ability to develop pragmatic solutions to complex actuarial problems.
