Caring for your mind is just as important as caring for your body. Good mental health is a vital part of your life and impacts your thoughts, behaviours and emotions.
We asked Earlsfield United FC: What are some ways you take care of your mental health?
“I find exercise is the key to taking care of my mental health. That’s not just through the training and games at EUFC but regularly going for runs or even walks during the week help me feel fit and healthy both physically and mentally.”
“I try to switch off at least one hour per day by putting my phone away, not looking at social media or looking at work emails. It’s the perfect way to de-stress after, during or before a long day.”
“I find playing competitive sport really helps with this. It’s a release I can’t really get any other way really and puts my mind off of everything else for a couple of hours.”
“Joining EUFC recently has really helped me enjoy my Saturdays and improve my mental health. It’s not all about the exercise part – being part of a team, the camaraderie and the social aspect during and after games is great.”
“If I’m feeling stressed or down for whatever reason I always find it useful to connect with other people. That doesn’t mean I need to open up about what I’m feeling but having dinner or a couple of drinks with a mate can help put your mind off any issues you’re having in life.”
“The odd weekend with no plans! It’s great to go out with friends regularly but nothing beats a drink-free healthy weekend with a good balance of relaxation and exercise.”
