Sean Kenny

Assistant Management Accountant

At Eames Group, in my role as assistant management accountant, I support with the day-to-day finance across the business. My main responsibilities include assembling the management packs for Eames Partnership, ECMS and Eames Consulting, which provide key stakeholders with visibility over profit and loss, balance sheets and cash flow summaries. 

I’m also responsible for ensuring that our ECMS and Singapore contractors are paid on time and managing internal payroll for Eames Partnership and ECMS staff. Generally, my role requires me to ensure that we are posting journal entries correctly to give us an accurate reflection of revenue generation and outgoings across the business. 

I pride myself on being very accountable; it’s fundamentally important in my role and our function to take ownership of your work. I always try to communicate effectively with my team and the wider stakeholders of the business to ensure I can deliver the best results.  

The best advice I have been given in my career is to think of myself as a long-time learner. In finance, the rules and regulations are constantly evolving as time goes - every day is a new day to learn new things. 

What is it about recruitment that has kept you in the industry? 

The opportunities to learn! The nature of hiring is constantly changing, particularly throughout the pandemic. This means that you have to be adaptable to a fast-changing environment and you cannot have a “one size fits all” approach to how you work. 

What is the proudest moment of your career?

The proudest moment of my career would be working in China, with half my time spent for the accounting firm Lehmanbrown and half with the China Britain Business Council. This was a very exciting opportunity as it pushed me out of my comfort zone.  I had to quickly adapt to overcoming a cultural and language barrier, but I felt I rose to the challenge and grew in confidence from it.
